Application for payment certificate for payment application and certificate for payment final certificate for payment just how many forms are there welcome to today's video tip my name is david dousset and today we are going to take a look at the application and certificate for payment the aia document the g7o - now the first thing we want to understand with this document is this is the way that the contractor gets paid this is the way that the contractor receives money for the services that they provide now before we dive into looking at the form let's clear up some confusion that we might hear of the different terms referring to this form we might hear terms such as application for payment certificate for payment application and certificate for payment or even final certificate for payment all of these terms are referring to the application and certificate for payment the g7o - so all these terms were hearing they're all referring to this one document the G 702 now once it is approved it is then referred to as the certificate for payment and you'll see language of that in the AIA contracts and who approves it we as the architect are the ones who approve the G 702 another thing I want to mention is there is no final certificate for payment form it's simply just the last certificate for payment so again this is referring all to one form the G 702 now the final certificate for payment it's important because it concludes our services it concludes the architects services so when we issued that final certificate for payment right when we approve move that final application and certificate for payment that concludes our services and this language can be found in the B 201 the section two point six point one point three which is the agreement between the owner and the architect so now that we have an understanding of what the G 702 is used for and the different names that might be referred to as let's go ahead and take a look at the form itself so here is the G 702 it's a one-page form and you can see up top here is the owner information the contractor information the architect information and other information about the job you can see here over on the left side the contractors application for payment this is where the contractor is going to put in the original contracts um any information about change orders and down here the current payment due which is the amount the contractor is seeking for this application and certificate for payment you can see over here on the right this is where the contractor signs the document and also gets it notarized from a notary public and then just below that that's the information that's important to us as well because that is where we sign it but you also see here where it says amount certified that is the amount that we are certifying that we are approving telling the owner or letting the owner know this is how much money the contractor is entitled to it may match exactly what the current payment is due or if we...
